Q. What audio compression formats are used by VoiceWave?
A. . We offer two sets of compression, depending on the version of VoiceWave you choose to purchase.   VoiceWave 2.x supports PCM and MPEG-2 compression. VoiceWave also supports audio playback of any audio format support by the Windows ACM, such as Microsoft TrueSpeech.

Q. What sound formats are supported?
A. VoiceWave 2.x supports 8kHz, 11kHz, and 22kHz and 8 or 16 bit samples of each sample rate.

Q. Does VoiceWave support variable speed playback?
A. Yes. The user moves a slider to determine the best playback speed.  Also, the user can slow down the audio playback or speed up the audio playback.

Q. Does VoiceWave automatically rewind a little when I take my lift my foot off the pedal ?
A. Yes.  It is also possible to configure the amount of time that VoiceWave will rewind.

Q. How big is a sound file recording of 1 minute?
A. VoiceWave 2.x compression supports a wide variety of bit rates (bits per second). The table below summarizes the bit rates to 1 minute of recorded audio:

Q. What internet features do you have?
A.  VoiceWave 2.x also has FTP,  e-mail support for POP3 and SMTP mail servers. TeleWave 2.x has built-in FTP support and  e-mail support. With TeleWave a caller can leave a dictation using a touch-tone phone and the dictation will automatically be copied to an FTP site on the internet.

Q. What networks are supported?
A. VoiceWave, TeleWave and SpeechWriter are file-system based. This means that these products will work on any network, including Windows NT and Novell.

Q. What are the minimum requirements?
A. VoiceWave - Pentium 90, 16 bit Sound card, Win 95/98 and NT 4.0 (SP3 or higher)
TeleWave - Pentium 133, Dialogic voice board (e.g. D41H), 32 MB RAM, Win 95 or NT 4.0 (SP3 or higher).
SpeechWriter - Pentium 200, 32 MB RAM Win 95.98 or NT 4.0 (SP3 or higher)

. How many lines does TeleWave support?
A. Up to 96 lines per PC. The Dialogic boards may be stacked in one PC.

Q. What voice recognition engine is used by SpeechWriter?
A. IBM ViaVoice 98 is used as the speech recognition engine.

Q. With SpeechWriter the transcriber proofreads the text. How can the original speaker's voice model be updated with corrections?
A. VoiceWave provides a proofreader that allows the transcriber to correct the text, highlight a word and listen to original speaker's voice. When he/she corrects the word then the correction is sent to the SpeechWriter server where the original speaker's voice model is updated.
